Validation
A 12 month validation service is required of all sterilisers according to AS/NZS 4815:2006.
Medtek validation procedures meet the requirements of Australian Standards AS4815 and AS4817 and achieve accreditation from bodies such as AGPAL, and Australian Medical Association all sterilising equipment must be initially validated and then re-validated on a regular basis of not longer than 12 month intervals.
Validation, also called Performance Qualification, includes calibration as well as further testing to ensure that your steriliser or autoclave is capable of sterilising the most challenging load that you process in your practice.
Validation also requires the completion of Biological Indicator Testing. This is easy to do by practice staff, and Medtek will provide instructions and support.
The RACGP Infection Control Standards state that microbiological qualification is to be performed by the member of staff with designated responsibility for sterilisation.
